6月4日 Relay For Life - Canadian Cancer SocietyOn Friday June 2nd I spent my morning volunteering at the Relay For Life site, I helped set up the registration tents for the teams and the tent where we would be selling Luminaries and Canadian Cancer Society items. It was a gorgeous morning and we got a lot accomplished.
That afternoon I went back and helped out with selling Luminaries and CCS items (caps, badges & wrist bands).
At 7:00pm I took part in the Survivor Lap. It was amazing as a "sea" of yellow shirts moved around the field. I was greatful for all the support from teams on the sidelines cheering us on. I found strength in all their applause and smiling faces.
Nearing the end of my lap it was wonderful to look into the faces of my hubby Rowan, my mom Claudette, my sister Iona and my friends Wanda & Earl. Their love and support means so much to me.
This was a very triumphant moment, knowing that I as well as all the other yellow shirts around me had won our battle against cancer and knowing that everyone there was raising funds to help continue the fight.
We then had a team photo after which we eached released yellow balloons, there was about three hundred and thirty something survivors/balloons.
Then the relay teams started their first lap of the evening. My sisters team consisted of about 20 ppl and they had raised over $5,000.00
There was entertainment throughout the night till 6am the next morning when the wrap up ceremonies started.
I encourage you to find your Canadian Cancer Society in your province/city and to find out more about how you can join the fight against cancer. In 2002 I took part in my first Relay For Life as a volunteer and as a fundraiser, not once during that event did I think that 4 years later I would be taking part in the event as a SURVIVOR. www.cancer.ca
5月10日 A Day of ThankfullnessToday was 1 year since my radical hsytorectamy to remove cervical cancer. I look back at this year and I am amazed and where I am today. I am on the road to motherhood through the miracle of international adoption. I am so grateful for all the support, love & prayers that I had during this period of my life from all my family & friends around the world. My faith, my family/friends and our love is what got me through the surgery, the uncertainty and the recovery. Thank you everyone for your love and support, Thank you fo my talented team of Doctors & angel nurses. 5月1日 Walk For MSSunday April 30, 2006 I took part in my 4th Walk for MS. Mom and Ashley (a work colleague) joined me. For the first time ever we had Sunshine and warmth right from the start. Usually we are in jackets, touques, mitts and scarves. We stared at 10:15 and were finished within the hour. Thank you everyone who pledged and supported Team Natal 11月24日 BadmintonBadminton is going well Rowan is progressing so much so that last night after our lesson he was invited to play with a few of the regular Wednesday night players. He played well and they extended the invite to join them on Saturdays/Sundays/Wednesdays. When they get there they see how many people they have and then they play either singles or doubles. They also asked me But I need some more confidence (lessons) before I will feel brave enough to play with lots of people. |
